If you’ve always wanted to learn how to make pottery on the potter’s wheel, this is the workshop for you.

Suitable for complete beginners, or those who have minimal experience on the pottery wheel, this workshop is designed to kick-start your ceramics practice and teach you the basic techniques required to take a piece from raw material to functional ware. Over two days (3 hours per day), you’ll:

Day one:

  • learn to prepare your clay using the wedging technique
  • learn the basic techniques for throwing on the wheel, working to form a cylinder or bowl

Day two:

  • learn how to make handles
  • learn the techniques of trimming to refine and finish your work from day one
  • learn how to attach handles to your mugs

Includes all tuition, materials, equipment, glazing and firing of work.

Please wear enclosed shoes, trim long fingernails, tie long hair back, and wear comfy clothes. Bring an apron if you wish (towels provided by The Pumphouse)
