Join us for a full-day immersive workshop with Kerrie Docker from Table Top Pots, where you’ll learn the art of throwing tall cylinders and joining parts to achieve even more height on the pottery wheel.
Designed for intermediate to advanced potters, in this small group session Kerrie will share expert skills and techniques to help you confidently throw larger pieces. You’ll start by learning techniques to help you prepare and centre larger amounts of clay on the wheel*, learn strategies to increase height while refining wall thickness and structure, as well as maintaining control. You’ll also learn the technique behind joining parts and blending seams on the wheel to create additional height.
This workshop is perfect for potters looking to scale up their work and gain confidence working with larger forms.
*Participants need to be able to comfortably centre 1.5kg of clay on the wheel.
Includes all tuition, materials, equipment and bisque firing of work. Feel free to bring along your favourite throwing tools.
Please wear enclosed shoes, tie long hair back, and wear comfy clothes.
About the Artist
Kerrie has many years’ experience with ceramics. She began her life in clay at high school, before she went on to complete a degree in ceramic design and focus her practice on wheel-thrown pottery. Kerrie now works under the name of Table Top Pots and produces a wide range of functional tableware. She takes immense joy in making beautiful pieces with a focus on functionality and design that means they can be used and enjoyed every day.
