Techniques for Throwing Bigger Bowls

  • Saturday 20 June, 10am-3pm & Sunday 21 June, 10am-2pm

This weekend workshop with Colin Hopkins from Melbourne Clay focuses on techniques for throwing and trimming larger forms with confidence. You’ll learn strategies for centring more clay, managing weight and wall thickness when throwing large forms like bowls, improving structure and balance, and refining large pieces at the leather-hard stage. Designed for intermediate-plus throwers, this workshop is ideal for potters looking to scale up their work and gain more control over larger forms.

All materials and bisque firing of work included. Please bring any particular tools you like to throw or trim with.

This workshop is part of the Elevate Program; a program designed to boost the creative strength of Albury and the surrounding region. Proudly supported  by the NSW Government through Create NSW, Elevate helps local artists, makers and designers turn great ideas into market‑ready products through practical workshops, hands‑on masterclasses and real opportunities to sell their work.
