Silversmithing for beginners: Chain bracelet with closure

Learn foundational silversmithing skills with gold and silversmith Amy Lees-Doherty.

In this workshop you’ll learn how to make jump rings, how to assemble three different types of chains and how to create a chain bracelet with closure. By the end of this workshop you’ll:

  • Have three sample lengths of different chain styles
  • Have a finished chain bracelet with a toggle closure
  • Leave with learning resources to continue your journey into silversmithing

All materials and tuition included.

 

What to bring

  • Apron
  • Ear plugs
  • Eye protection
  • Participants must wear enclosed shoes, tie hair up and avoid wearing loose-fitting clothing or accessories.

About your Workshop Tutor

Amy is a Melbourne-based gold and silversmith who makes intricate wearable art inspired by mythology and folklore. Her works are held in private collections across Australia, the UK, Europe, and Hong Kong, and she also teaches metalwork and contemporary art techniques. Amy has previously spent time at The Pumphouse through the Artist in Residence program.
