Contracts, Copyright & Creative Rights: Legal Skills for Artists

  • Thursday 20 August, 1pm – 3pm
  • Thursday 20 August, 6pm – 8pm

Running a creative business can also involve navigating the legal landscape that supports and protects it. From negotiating contracts and safeguarding your copyright to managing collaborations, these responsibilities can feel complex and overwhelming. If your practice includes Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP), there are additional considerations to ensure this knowledge and material are treated with the respect and protection they deserve.

Join Suzanne Derry, an experienced arts lawyer and advocate for creative practitioners, for this engaging workshop in which she’ll guide you through practical ways to use the law to strengthen and protect your creative practice. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your rights, as well as valuable skills for negotiating contracts and managing your arts business with confidence.

This workshop is free, but registrations are essential.

This workshop is part of the Elevate Program; a program designed to boost the creative strength of Albury and the surrounding region. Proudly supported by Create NSW, Elevate helps local artists, makers and designers turn great ideas into market‑ready products through practical workshops, hands‑on masterclasses and real opportunities to sell their work.
