Better Glazing

  • Saturday 20 June, 4pm-6pm

Join Ilona Topolcsanyi from Melbourne Clay to learn fast, reliable dip glazing techniques used in production pottery. You’ll learn how to prepare glazes for consistent dipping, measure and adjust specific gravity, and control viscosity/flow for repeatable results. This workshop also covers efficient hot wax techniques and quick, effective ways to wipe and clean a foot, helping you speed up your glazing process without sacrificing quality. You’ll cover glaze tools, tongs and techniques for both big and small works.

Techniques can be applied to both functional and sculptural works.

Each participant will take home a 100ml measuring cylinder to continue accurate testing and streamlined workflows.

Glazes, tools and firing included. Please bring a small selection of bisque-fired work to glaze.

This workshop is part of the Elevate Program; a program designed to boost the creative strength of Albury and the surrounding region. Proudly supported by Create NSW, Elevate helps local artists, makers and designers turn great ideas into market‑ready products through practical workshops, hands‑on masterclasses and real opportunities to sell their work.
