Lauren Black

Lauren Black has built a diverse career working with non-profit and national arts organizations across broadcasting, music, theatre, visual arts, and education. As an experienced marketing and communications professional, she supports creatives from both artistic and business perspectives. A jazz musician and radio presenter with over 20 years of experience, Lauren has led the Canberra Big Band In Full Swing and hosted the live-broadcast concert series Friday Night Live.

Born and raised in Albury, Lauren has a deep connection to the Murray region and commits to advocating for the value of arts in regional communities. As the ExecutiveDirector at Murray Arts, she promotes and supports various artistic endeavors, fostering connections between artists and the community, ensuring local art receives the recognition it deserves. Her participation in The Pumphouse Think Tank is driven by her desire to support the development of a new makerspace, recognizing the critical need for such a resource in the area.

Lauren sees The Pumphouse as a unique opportunity to develop the next generation of professional artists and makers in the region. She believes access to professional equipment, mentorship, and networking opportunities can transform a hobbyist into a professional creative.

Lauren hopes to share the success stories of local makers who have thrived in this vibrant community. She enjoys being part of a group that brings together artists, arts administrators, and business owners, learning from their experiences and contributing to the collective vision for The Pumphouse.
